SÖNMUN is an artistic duo focused on home decor based in the south of Portugal and founded in 2022 by the two creative minds and wild at hearts, Marcos Alfares and Emilie Cavaco.
Carefully handmade between the sun and the sea of the Algarve, SÖNMUN is a craftwork that uses mainly the tufting technique as its original signature and every art piece is unique and one of a kind.

Inspired by the figurative elements of the Portuguese southern coast and its nature, SÖNMUN presents a new collection as a little ode to Algarve's unparalleled beauty and tradition.
In the attempt to offer the serenity of the algarvian elements and the singularity of the warm blue sky & sea, this collection embraces the minimalism of contemporary lines and colours as a destination to achieve comfort and inner peace as a reference to nature.

The whole process is handcrafted.
Every step from the making through to the finishing touches are exclusively handmade.
Our decor pieces are created to offer each interior a singular and unique meaning.
TUFTING WORKSHOPS

In this workshop, participants have the opportunity to create their own tufting project from designing the piece to handling the tufting gun. The remainder of the process is completed by SÖNMUN (application of the textile glue, backing, etc.) and the finished tufted piece can be collected within a maximum of 48 hours.
- Experience level: Beginner or Intermediate
- 3 px maximum per session
- 4 hour lesson
- Creation of a textile piece in a square or circular format up to 40cm in size with felt backing OR 30×40cm with a wooden frame
- Material included in the session fee (cut-pile tufting gun, fabric, several yarn colors, scissors, trimmer, textile glue, rug felt backing/wooden frame)
